(bow) Harry Warren Mayor and President of the Club-achieved his lifelong ambition to get in a boat and have a row. Others(2 seat) Bill Stuart longtime committee chairman and hall custodian-(3 seat) George Henry life member and regatta committee stalwart, Rex Morpeth Club Patron and later Mayor of Whakatane and coxswain Brian Slipper a tireless worker for the Club in particular running the annual regatta at Lake Matahina for many years.

A victorious quad returns home to Whakatane Airport in 1979 to a warm welcome home by a bunch of young club members.Gary Reid proudly holds the trophy in front. The crew was:

A club 4 competing at the local regatta: Coxwain is Phil Hathaway, then John Lambert, Dave Fleming, Bruce Colebrook and the bow man yet to be identified. Dave Fleming went to live in Aus after his rowing days. He was playing rugby in a club match is Sydney when he was fatally injured.

Dave Molesworth and Tom Reid ,C.D.Molesworth(coach) won the NZ Champion Men's double Sculls titles in 3 years running from 1962 to 1965.
